Cub Scout recruitment is Thursday

Tuesday, March 8, 2022

On Thursday, March 10, a Cub Scout recruitment event will be held at the kindergarten center cafeteria in Poplar Bluff. The gathering originally planned for Feb. 24 was rescheduled because of a winter weather event.

Boys and girls from kindergarten to fifth grade are invited to come and learn more about scouting and sign up with one of the local Cub Scout packs.

“Cub Scouts are a great opportunity for the entire family,” said Maddie Lasewicz, local district scouting executive. “This program teaches scouts valuable life skills through fun activities such as hiking, camping, STEM projects and more. Scouting can open lots of different scholarship and career opportunities for youth.”

Youngsters who come to this recruitment event will have the opportunity to make a car and participate in the Pinewood Derby. They will be able to attend the spring camporee and summer camps.

In Poplar Bluff, there is one Cub Scout pack open to boys and girls, and one pack open to boys. There is an option for every family’s needs. If you would like to learn more about an all-boy Cub Scout pack, contact Cubmaster Darla Nunn at 573-429-0880. You can also contact Cubmaster Tatianna Williams about the pack open to boys and girls at 573-714-3632.

Anyone interested in getting a child involved in Cub Scouts or the Scouts BSA program, or if you would like to learn about volunteer opportunities, reach out to the Lasewicz at Madeline.Lasewicz@scouting.org for more information.
