City Council

Poplar Bluff City Council will meet in regular session at 7 p.m. Monday, June 21, in the City Council Chambers, 301 S. Fifth St.

Mayor Steve Davis will present a proclamation to the Three Rivers Lady Raiders Softball team and there will be an announcement from Big River Communications.

Workshop items are:

• a request to rezone property from RS-1 Rural Residential to O-1 Professional Office. The property is located at 2755 Barron Road. The applicant is New Life Christian Church of Poplar Bluff.

• a request to rezone property from RD-1 Duplex Residential to C-2 General Commercial. The property is located at 316 West Victor Street. The applicant is George H. Greenwall.

• an agreement between the City of Poplar Bluff and the Missouri Department of Transportation relative to the replacement of the Business Highway 60 (Pine Street) westbound lane bridge, Job J9S3381.

• review a proposed addition to Electrical Code Policy to include an emergency electrical disconnect for commercial buildings.

• a proposed IBEW – Local 702 union agreement between the City of Poplar Bluff and the Poplar Bluff Police Department’s dispatchers group.

Action required items:

• ordinance authorizing the city manager to purchase properties from the Butler County Collector’s Office.

• ordinance regarding a conditional use permit to operate an outdoor sports paintball business.

• ordinance for the rezoning of 3002 Oak Grove Road from RS-1 Rural Residential to C-2 General Commercial.

• ordinance regarding the annexation and zoning designation for property located at 2893 Reno Drive.

• ordinance regarding the de-certification of IBEW local 702 as a union representative.

• ordinance regarding the rezoning of property located at 2755 Barron Road.

• ordinance regarding the rezoning of property located at 316 West Victor Street.

• resolution making appointments to the Black River Coliseum Board, the Animal Control Board and the Planning and Zoning Commission of the City of Poplar Bluff.

The City Council will meet in a closed meeting in which they will discuss such matters which are exempted under the open meetings law Section 610.021.1,RSMo, Section 610.021.2, RSMo, Section 610.021.3, RSMo, Section 610.021.9, RSMo, Section 610.021.11, RSMo, Section 610.021.12, RSMo, Section 610.021.13, RSMo and Section 610.021.14, RSMo.

Municipal Utilities Advisory Board cancelled

The regular meeting of the Municipal Utilities Advisory Board scheduled for Monday, June 21, has been canceled due to lack of agenda items.

Parks and Recreation

Poplar Bluff Parks and Recreation Board will meet at 5 p.m. Monday, June 21, at the Poplar Bluff Parks and Recreation Office

Coliseum Advisory Board

Black River Coliseum Advisory Board will meet at 5:15 p.m. Tuesday, June 22, in the Black River Coliseum Conference Room, 301 South 5th St.

Old business will include: Chamber Banquet, Black River Coliseum Indoor Yard Sale, COVID vaccinations, Black River Gun & Knife Show, PRCA Xtreme Bulls & Bands, Missouri UPCI District Conference, Xtreme Gymnastics, SEMO Basketball Conference, 2021 Ducks Unlimited, Reza, Travis Tritt, Carden Circus, Westwood Baptist Academy Banquet, Sacred Heart Fiesta Auction, Poplar Bluff Prom, Twin Rivers High School graduation, Jesus Fest 2021, Taste of Town, Naylor graduation, Poplar Bluff graduation, job fair and Summer Fest.

Officers will be elected.

The next meeting will be Sept. 28.

HVACR canceled

The Poplar Bluff HVACR meeting scheduled Thursday has been canceled. The next meeting will be at 5 p.m. July 22.
