Registration is open for a mass vaccination clinic that will be held Friday in Poplar Bluff.

It will be the first mass vaccination clinic held in Missouri, said Emily Goodin, director of the Butler County Health Department.

Registration is required to participate in the drive-thru clinic, Goodin said. The clinic opens at 9 a.m. Friday at Hydro Adventures. The event is being held by the Missouri Army National Guard in coordination with the Butler County Health Department.

Only 1,950 doses of the Pfizer vaccine will be available. Missouri residents who qualify for Phase 1A and Phase 1B-Tiers 1 and 2 can register at https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0D49AEA72DA4FAC16-vaccine.

Sign up must be done through the website, according to health officials. More than 600 slots were filled in the first two hours of registration Tuesday.

Poplar Bluff Municipal Library will have computers available from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday for those who need help with registration. An email address is needed to complete the registration process, which includes filling out an information sheet.

Staff at the Daily American Republic can also assist residents with registration from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday, either in person at 208 Poplar St. or by phone, 573-785-1414.

Missouri is currently distributing the vaccination to those in Phase 1A (health care workers) and 1B-Tiers 1 and 2 (first responders, emergency services, public health infrastructure and high risk individuals).

Registration will close at 10 p.m. Thursday.

Registration and vaccination for Friday’s event is separate from the waiting list in place at the Butler County Health Department. The BCHD expects to receive vaccines but does not know when this will happen.

Those on the BCHD waiting list will need to register separately for the National Guard event, if they wish to participate Friday, Goodin said. If someone who is registered with the health department does receive the vaccine, they are asked to let BCHD staff know, so they can be removed from that list.

Those who participate in the event Friday will need to come back Feb. 12 to receive the second dose of the vaccine.
