Wappapello Lake Area Association thanks supporters for Festival of Lights

Friday, January 10, 2020

The Wappapello Lake Area Association (WLAA) wants to thank the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Operations Manager Bart Dearborn and his staff for their assistance for their assistance in coordinating the 27th Annual Festival of Lights Auto Tour 29 November to 3 January.

We want to also recognize the Mingo Job Corps, River Radio, Doug Nichols, John Graham, Leon Fox, Don and April Cecil and all other volunteers, businesses and organizations that made this event successful this year.

Approximately 35,700 folks attended the event. Prizes for the top three best decorated sites were awarded to Chaonia Volunteer Fire Department (1st Place), The Camp (2nd Place) and The Bark’s Sisters (3rd Place).

These winners were recognized and presented prizes and trophies at the WLAA meeting, which was held on Jan. 8 at the Bill Emerson Memorial Visitor Center at Wappapello Lake.

It is working with community-oriented businesses and folks like you which causes activities such as these to continue being successful each year.

We highly recommend that you or your group or organization become a member of WLAA.

Meetings are held on the second Wednesday at 6 p.m.

The next meeting will be held at the Chaonia Volunteer Fire Department on Feb. 12.

The facility is located on Highway W and 172.

The next WLAA partnered event will be the Wappapello Woodland Expo on March 21.

Sincerely,

Jon Hayes
