FREE ACCESS: PBPD seek information about suspect in Saturday shooting

Poplar Bluff Police are searching for a suspect in relation to an alleged shooting on at approximately 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2. Anyone with information about Carlos James Wallace are encouraged to contact the department.

According to a press release, officers responded to the 500 block of East Harper Street in reference to a subject who'd been shot. Upon arriving, they located the 35-year-old victim who was suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest.

The victim was transported to the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center and has since been flown to a St. Louis hospital for further treatment.

During the investigation, Wallace was identified as a suspect in the incident.

Wallace is wanted for first-degree assault, armed criminal action, unlawful use of a weapon and unlawful possession of a firearm. According to the release, he also has outstanding felony warrants.

Wallace should be considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with information on Wallace's whereabouts is asked to call the Poplar Bluff Police Department at 573 785-5776.

Police Chief Danny Whiteley said he would like to thank the Butler County Sheriff's Office, the Missouri State Highway Patrol and the Sikeston Department of Public Safety Special Operations Group for their assistance with the investigation.

Whiteley said there's no known motive as of 9 p.m. Saturday.
