PBFD chief thankful for help from 'our neighbors'

Tuesday, July 3, 2018

The true definition of a neighbor is someone who, without thinking, comes to the aid of those in need.

This is the glue that holds a community together. This past Friday (June 15), at approximately 11:53 a.m. the Poplar Bluff Fire Department got to witness first hand what makes our community so special. We encountered a commercial structure fire on one of the hottest days we've had in quite sometime. It was during this time that many of our "neighbors" came running to help us mitigate a very dangerous and taxing situation.

Words cannot express our gratitude to our friends at Butler County EMS, Poplar Buff Police Department, Missouri State Fire Marshall's Office, Poplar Bluff Code Enforcement, Butler County Fire Protection District, Dexter Fire Department, The United Gospel Rescue Mission, Poplar Bluff Street Department, Poplar Bluff Motor Pool, Municipal Utilities Electric and Water, Spire Gas, NewWave Communications and the Missouri Department of Natural Resources.

Without these great friends and neighbors, our job would have been impossible. So, from all of us at the Poplar Bluff Fire Department, we Thank You from the bottom of our hearts.
