Random thoughts regarding our

City Council

[MAIL] Peter Tinsley and Dave Johnson were avid supporters of former City Manager Heath Kaplan. Now that he is banned for life by the municipals watchdog for ethics violations and conflicts of interest, should we hold our breath to hear any apologies from Peter and Dave for the damage they allowed him to implement? We might suffocate.

Why did a city council member just resign their elected position citing potential conflicts of interest? Seems strange since she is accepting a contract position. Why not stay on council? Contract positions don't require being off the council. Or is it something else? Some digging would be appropriate.

Is there no reasonalbe expectation that if a citizen contribute financially to a candidate's campaign for city council and they get elected but do not fulfill their term, the money donated should be returned? It's like I made an investment and the broker ran off with my principle.

Lots of questions surrounding the latest moves at Poplar Bluff City Council. With the budget crisis looming on the horizon, it looks to only get more interesting.

Kaplan's ban should equal an apology to voters

[MAIL] Dear Speakout,

I would like someone to ask Mr. Peter Tinsley and Mr. David Johnson and the other people who interviewed him to start with, what they have to say about Mr. Kaplan's ban for life as a city manager.

They didn't do any research on him and cost us tax payers a bunch of damn money.

They owe all of us a explanation and apology, and, admit the didn't do us taxpayers due diligence as the brag.

A concerned and mad taxpayer.
