Give atheists

their own day

In response to Friday's letter to the editor, I would like to praise the lady who wrote the letter concerning our government honoring our God and our country. I'd like to add to that: our so-called atheists, why do they accept their holiday pay or bonuses or so-forth and another thing, if they don't like us worshiping our God over the holidays give them their own national holiday which should be April the first which someday they will be fooled. Thank you and God bless that lady again.

Musial coverage vs. Ali's ink

I'm sure this wont get printed. I've called in about the police department worrying about people's dogs when we're overrun with thieves and murderers, I never got printed. I'm sure that was scanned and since it criticized dogs it never got printed, but golly, Muhammad Ali died and got three and a half pages in the sports page. A draft-dodger. He hated America. He supported the Muslim situation. And we see where the Muslim situation got us. I'm sure again this will never be printed. But, golly, he got three and a half pages. Three and a half pages! When Stan Musial died, one of the greatest athletes that ever played any game and absolutely one of the nicest people in the world, I don't remember but I doubt that Stan Musial got a half a page in the DAR. Yeah, I said the DAR. What a joke. He got almost nothing and Ali, because of his political agenda and his big mouth, he got three and a half pages in the DAR. I think that says a lot about the world today. A whole lot.

Shame on

Poplar Bluff

I read in Sunday's paper about how much Poplar Bluff dislikes senior citizens and Speakout was so right. I've been here for 12 years and it didn't take me six months to find out how much senior citizens are disliked in Poplar Bluff. I'm just sorry it took this person two years. Shame on Poplar Bluff. A lot of your money comes from us senior citizens and it's just a shame that we have no respect in this town.

Happy birthday

to PB Library

I'm calling to wish the Poplar Bluff Public Library happy birthday. It is the one public institution in town that has been taken care of with memorials and so on. I wish to thank the Poplar Bluff board for all they have done in the Children's room with the magnificent tropical fish tank. I thank you. And, maybe, this will help to get more children to the library. Reading is the best thing and the most helpful thing in life. Thank you.

Slow down if you want any business

It's five minutes to eight on a Monday night. I would like to know how children are supposed to get ice cream from the ice cream truck if they go 25, 40 miles through the neighborhood when there's no traffic and they have not got the chance to get out to see them to get there to get their ice cream. We live off the Southside off of Midland and Kentucky and the truck came by and decided to just zoom on past our house and our grandchildren could not even get out there in time get out there and get ice cream. How are we supposed to get ice-cream if they don't' want to slow down? Seems to me like they don't want anybody's business.
