Helpers made Naylor Heritage Day a success

Friday, October 9, 2015

To the Editor,

A cold, cloudy day could not prevent alumnus, friends and vendors from coming to Naylor for one of the most well attended and successful Heritage Day "Hometown Pride" day for this 32nd annual event.

The air was electric with activity and warm greetings. Success was attributed to the many volunteers much too numerous to name, parade participants, musical groups, Iron Mountain Station and Buzzard Run Bluegrass, many vendors and the excellent food prepared by the Nutrition Center. Thank you Mr. Roy Reynolds for providing the use of your building for the quilt show. Also thank you Mr. Roger Smith and Ag department for cleaning the streets and taking care of our milk cow and corn sheller.

Thank you Mrs. Moreland and students for your window painting.

We wish to thank these groups for their monetary donations: Naylor Church of God, Current River Ford, Inc., Naylor Memorial American Legion, D&D Tire and Service Center, Baldwin - GMC and Buick, Slusher Cleaning Service and Peoples Community Bank.

Festivities included the flag ceremony presented by the VFW color guard from Doniphan. The national anthem was beautifully sung by Chere Dawe, a former Naylor High School music teacher. The parade was one of the longest we've had recently, so we thank the participants wholeheartedly.

Thank you to all who attended. We enjoyed seeing everyone. Thank you for making our day a success.

Naylor
