To the Editor

It is with sadness that Three Rivers College notes the passing of Richard S. Brumitt of Doniphan, who not only was a long-time Three Rivers Trustee but also a tireless advocate for the college. The Three Rivers Board of Trustees, administration, faculty and staff extend sympathy to the Brumitt family.

We will miss Mr. Brumitt's willingness to serve the college in many capacities and his staunch support for our mission to help students on the path to brighter futures through higher education.

Mr. Brumitt served as a College Trustee representing Ripley County for a total of 24 years, from 1968-1986 and 1992-1998. He was known for his support of expanding scholarships, keeping tuition affordable, and assuring that all citizens of Ripley County had access to a college education.

In more recent years, he served as a founding board member of the Three Rivers Endowment Trust, the fundraising arm of the college.

Mr. Brumitt was loved and respected throughout the area. The effects of his dedication to his family, his community, his careers in coaching and business, and his service to Three Rivers will benefit the area for years to come.
