Yes. I don't live in Poplar Bluff, but I do shop there on occasion and I just wanted to say, as an old country girl, I feel sorry for the people of Poplar Bluff that voted this council in and Angela Pearson who seems to have her head up her * * * and doesn't have a clue what's going on and don't really care. If she's out to show the world how stupid she is, she's doing a really wonderful job. Even the country folks in surrounding counties can tell that.

As far as a place for Poplar Bluff business in PB, like Mid-Continent Nail, I'm sorry, but your company's not in Mexico or Cuba or somewhere else--they're the only people that get breaks in this country any more. Have a good day.

Kaplan salary

way too much

I read where the Lt. Governor makes $86,000 a year and our city manager makes $160,000 and he needs an assistant to help him. With all this stuff going on where he can sell everything and get rid of everything and he needs help with that. I feel so sorry for him.

Rushin collects

his debts, but..

I was really surprised that Dr. Rushin didn't weigh in on collecting bad debts. He has successfully collected people who had damaged his rental properties and people who moved off owing him rent. Once you have that court decree judgment in your hands you can go to the Sheriff's Department at any time, sign off on the execution order and whatever property that that individual owns a part of -- he doesn't have to own all of it, but if his name is involved on it in some way shape or form, the sheriff can take possession of that property and sell it at auction on the court house steps. Now, Dr. Rushin knows this. He's done it many times. It's a simple thing you folks can check court records and you will see that I am right. That his rental operation has done this many, many times.

So why did he stand pat and not offer his expertise in this matter of collecting bad debt? I'm sure everyone would love to know.

It is time that this council does its duty and fires the city manager. He obviously has no pride in this community. 95 percent of the people are against him including every city employee that I've talked to and I've talked to many.

I want to go over how to do it since there seems to be a lack of knowledge of procedures in this council and with the city manager. You announce 10 days beforehand before the meeting that they are to have an executive session on personnel. Once in executive session someone makes a motion that they fire the city manager because . . . don't give any reason. No reason can be given or you've got a lawsuit. He serves at your pleasure so it's their pleasure and it's your pleasure to fire him. Then come back into regular session, say we have reached a decision on personnel in executive session and that is that he be immediately released from his duty. Then have a roll call taken and each person give their oral vote and he is done and you may want to get the Highway Patrol to take him out. The last city manager went out with the city police. We don't want to repeat the same thing.

This town is in desperate shape with the continuation of this manager, so please let's do something good for this town instead of tearing it down like you have by approving all his crazy programs.

Yes, I wonder if Kaplan and his four henchmen would be willing to let a large amount of money be written off if it was owed to them? I don't think so.
