A minister

in Jesus' mold

A TV news program reported a woman had been arrested and charged with theft by deceit after receiving over $3,000 from a church. She told them that her child had cancer and money was needed from treatment. Later, it was discovered that child was not ill. They were homeless and she spent the money on a place to stay and food to eat. The minister was being interviewed. He was asked questions which were solicited to condemn the woman. He paused to consider and said that the woman had been wrong, but we should consider the circumstances before punishment was imposed. I thought of the Bible story where the woman was convicted of adultery and sentenced to be stoned to death and went to Jesus. He said the condemners who were free from sin should cast the first stone. He took a stick and drew in the sand. When he looked up, all the accusers were gone. Thank you God for your grace, mercy and forgiveness and for giving us Jesus and this kind minister. Help us to remember Jesus.

Gotta get your rebate check

I see the city manager is out of town: probably picking up his rebate checks. How could the price go up from $5,000 to $12,000 in two months. That's the rebate. He's there to get it.

Council should

pursue debt

No wonder why the city council won't make Brian Becker pay back the money he owes us. They're as big of crooks as he is, and that's why the city's in such a mess.

Kaplan is

out of touch

If we stick to 75 percent of people who disagree entirely with the city manager continue to be nasty to him, perhaps he will decide to leave. This is the biggest mistake I have ever seen in all my years of city government. He is totally out of context to the people. He apparently didn't take psychology 101 at his state college. His actions in this town have been completely unacceptable except to the council, who unfortunately we elected.

Sue council

to do job

Speak Out, it just doesn't get any better than the current situation in Poplar Bluff. Now my question is that if the city council is refusing to act properly on behalf of the citizens of Poplar Bluff to collect a debt that is owed, indirectly, to the citizens of Poplar Bluff, is it time for a class action lawsuit to force the representatives of the people to do their d*** job.
