Where's the

transparency

What has happened to all the transparency Mayor Pearson and the new council members talked about? She at one time wanted the council packets made available to the citizens before the council meeting. Now, budgets and documents are withheld from the public and the DAR at the council meetings. The mayor and the new council members campaigned on lower utility rates. Now it sounds like the utility rates will go up. The council needs to pay it's debt to the utility department. That would help utilities. This council and their new city manager who needs a five-letter word to describe him--S - P - E- N- D - is out of touch with good business practices in the city of Poplar Bluff.

Shakeup's a

shakedown

It seems that the new city council's shake up of the status quo in Poplar Bluff has turned instead to a shakedown of the city and its resources. The previous administration's prudent and conservative fiscal spending habits are quickly being squandered in an almost reckless attempt to overturn the mythical old boy network that helped this city survive and even thrive in a depressed economy. Their foolishness and incompetence is obvious as can be seen by watching the petty displays of various council members as they thumb their collective noses at any community leader who dares to express their concerns to this tone-deaf council. Enough is enough! Mr. Kaplan cannot be recalled as he was not elected in the first place, but the individuals who hired him can be. It's time to do that before the city's resources are gutted completely. There is still time to stop the financial hemorrhaging before more funds are squandered by this reckless and incompetent group who call themselves the "Merry Men." Nice party, you guys. Time to go home . . . now!

Heal and move

on is so true

I am calling about the "Let's Heal and Move On." I agree with the person that put that in Speak Out. I think we do need to heal and move on and try to get the law and the people back in order in Ferguson because if not they're gonna have everything up there tore up. They're not going to have a place to live or to go buy groceries or nothing. I do not know why people tear up their own neighborhood on account of something like that. I understand they're upset and they're mad, but why tear your own neighborhood up? Thank you and I really hope you print this. Have a good day.
