Govt., judges are destroying freedom

To the Editor:

The political situation in our country has gotten to be who can throw the most dirt. Watching TV lately has begun to be ridiculous, all you get is one politician saying how bad it would be if their opponent wins the race, and, their opponent stating how wrong it would be for them to win, both blaming the other for everything that has gone wrong. Being here in Southeast Missouri, we get bombarded with the same thing from the politicians in Missouri, Illinois, and Kentucky.

It used to be that the politicians respected one another and tried to get elected on their own worthiness. This went along until around the time when Jimmy Carter was president and our country was having a few problems and during his bid for re-election, he stated that he would not put our country in a heavy debt but that our country would work our way out of it. Ronald Reagan was running against Carter and promised that everyone would get a tax reduction. Well, this happened, but there was no way that he had to offset it except to enlarge the national debt. The same thing happened when George H. W. Bush became president and the national debt skyrocketed again. Next, Bill Clinton became president and had a few problems but did balance the federal budget. Then came George W. Bush as president and the national debt skyrocketed again. By this time our national debt was over 10 trillion dollars. Little does the normal person realize that with only a five percent interest rate, the interest on this debit is at least One Half a Trillion Dollars a Year. Has any interest ever been paid one this debt?? If not, the national debt would rise a trillion dollars every two years, this is scary.

With something like this hanging over our country, I would never want to be the President of the United States. Barack Obama, the first black president, stepped up and into a bucket of worms and he cannot find a way out.

Our country was established by people who were deprived of religious freedoms. These people organized our country on the basis of religious freedoms and the Ten Commandments. These freedoms are being destroyed by our politicians and the Federal Court Judges. This makes me wonder how long will our country remain for people to look up to and want to become citizens.

I believe that the only way that we can get our country back is to close the Federal and all the state congresses, along with the federal judges, putting these politicians and all of their staff along with the judges, onto welfare for a period of about five years. This way they could see how quite a few people in our country live. Also by doing this, we could take the money they make and pay off our national debt. We also could possibly have a large surplus of money.

I have been lucky all my life, having a good wife, being able to serve my country for twenty plus years, serving during the Korean and Vietnam Wars, retiring, and living out in the country. Thank God.
