City manager

plan is simple

Wake up Poplar Bluff especially city employees. What the new City Manager is doing is simple. He is hiring his friends to come here and make good money for a couple years then be gone. He has the city cable money to spend. And why don't he explain how he came about his new personal assistant. Is it because her mother works for Schultz Surveying & Engineering, Inc? We know the new city council does not want to keep doing business with Smith & Company Engineers. Remember Pearson, Rushin, Johnson, Brannum and Tinsley wanted this guy. So whatever he does it's on them.

Keep it local?

What a laugh

So the new city manager is hiring someone from out of town, paying them $60,000 a year and hired them because they have MINORITY status so they get hired automatically!! Oh and to write grants for that amount?? Thought the big thing with the council was keeping things local??

Let the free

market prevail

As America sees more and more of these well organized protests at fast food restaurants around the nation being organized by the activist union, SEIU, here's a point that I think that they are missing. Was anyone listening to the national news as of late? Well, it seems there's a company has now produced, literally if you would want to call it that, a robot that can custom grind any type of meat presented to the machine, dice up all of the vegetables and other condiments and dispense them properly, put the product in patty form, assemble it, apply the condiments and place it on a plate and dispense it. Yes, you heard me right-an automated hamburger flipper!

America, when will you wake up that industry, just as farmers did once Chavez protested the farming in California, they saw a rapid industrialization to eliminate the workers that were protesting them?

So, let's continue these fights for $15 an hour wages and just see how rapidly McDonald's, Burger King, Wendy's, Hardee's and all the other fast food places that rely on humanity to produce these products get rapidly replaced by machinery that does it automatically and only needs the attention of maybe a couple of people just to feed product to the machine.

As our own greed feeds the need to have the government extract more from us we will truly rue the day for these actions. I say let the free market prevail, but you see Democrats don't believe in the free market place and they are largely behind these protests.

Track the

city's expenses

Hello, Speak Out. I hope the DAR is keeping track of how much the new regime down at city hall is costing the taxpayers of Poplar Bluff. A hundred and seventy some thousand dollars or better salary to the former city manager, legal fees trying to avoid paying their contractual obligation, I don't know how many thousands were spent on their search for the new city manager and so if you add that to the salary, relocation expenses, benefits that the new manager is scheduled to get and then if add the new grant writer's salary and his personal assistant which will free him up to do more. You know it could be that if Mr. Bagby had been free and loose with the taxpayers' dollars the way the Mayor said he was he could have had an assistant or two and maybe would have got it or would have looked like he was getting more done, I'll put it that way. So I just hope you all are keeping a running list and that every now and then maybe a little block on the front page in the corner: City Manager Expenses To-Date Brought on by New Regime. I don't maybe you all shouldn't do that because they might pull your license or somethin' and make where you'd have to get out of town. Good luck with that!
