Take new photo

Yes, I'd make a comment. When you people publish a picture of our new mayor, would you please print an up-to-date picture instead of a high school graduation picture? Thank you.

Get all the facts

Why don't we wait until all the facts are available BEFORE we rush to judgment on the actions of the new mayor in firing city manager Bagby? Thank you.

Check the facts

As a property owner in Butler County, I have become interested in the type of people we have in the city of Qulin that is handling people's affairs. It is a type that does not care about the work they need to do or the working class people. They only care about using poor people's vote and have no money to buy tax, then as a public worker they use this power, even lie to higher authorities, in hopes they gain more respect to help them win the coming election. Recently I came across a young man from Qulin who was being lied about by one of these public officials. This woman lied causing the young man to lose his job and even lied and said the young man had threatened her a knife. It seems that she did this because he was gay and she didn't like it! If our public workers are going to be like this, God help us.

Reader approved mayor's actions

I was glad to see and hear in the DAR that Doug Bagby was escorted out of the office. He is a very arrogant person.

Why just two movies prices?

I just wondered if anybody has thought of this before? Why is when you go to the movies or dinner or whatever, 12 and under is one price, adults are another? What happened to the kids between 13- 17? They're not kids, but they're not adults. So why don't we have a third price? They shouldn't be charged as adults, but yet you're not considering them children, so what are they? Pre-teens? There should be a pre-teen price? I think every body would agree with this especially if they have teenagers? Just a thought for the day. Thank you.

I want to Speak Out about Wally Duncan and Wade Pierce abandoning the city of Poplar Bluff. The city that they were supposedly real concerned about and really cared about. This just seems to be a couple of chickens on the run! They cannot stand change. We, the people of Poplar Bluff, need to do something about this. When these two people run for anything else, if they do ever run for anything, if they do I don't think they will ever get it. Thank you.

Editor's note: Wally Duncan and Wade Pierce were not elected. Duncan was appointed by city manager. Pierce had a professional services contract with the city.

Beware Ellsinore

Watch out, Ellsinore! Here we go again. We've got a husband and wife running our city. I cannot believe that this man that's head of maintenance and his wife is the only one qualified to do this clerk's job! There's too much nepotism in this town. First it was our school. We got rid of one of their wives and now it's in our city. Thank you.

Citizens elect council

Yes, I was calling about all of the letters in Speak Out column and all that people are writing in. Usually it's the business people in town. But I was just wondering about this. We, the people, elected these people. I mean they didn't slip in the back door. Dr. Rushin and the other new people. Ms. Pearson and all them. They didn't sneak in the back door, the people, we, the people, elected them to serve, so if there's something wrong with them why then wrong with all of us, the people.

So why don't we just hang with that. The people wanted these people in office and they didn't want the other people. So if you don't want somebody you vote 'em out and that's what they did. They voted them out! And I get a little tired of reading the Speak Out about these people saying that Ms. Pearson and Dr. Rushin and all those other folks that are in there now are doing something wrong. They're not doing anything wrong, they are just trying to run the city in the best way they know how And I don't know Ms. Pearson at all. I know Dr. Rushin. But, I don't know her. Anyway, I just was amazed at that! The people elected them to serve a certain amount of time. Anyway about the escort out by the police of the city manager--I think that was probably customary because he might have went to his office and got valuable papers or something like that, files, and that all belongs to the administration and they just wanted to make certain he didn't take anything out of his office. But anyway keep in mind that we, the people, elected these people. We, the people. I thank you listening to me. Always enjoy your column. Bye.
