Pray for the children

To the Editor,

Almost best not to read the newspaper or listen to the news, seems like so much of the world is in such terrible trouble. And when children are in the middle of it, oh how my heart bleeds!! In some countries all that children have known is war. This terrible problem in Syria gives us all nightmares. That is if you are a caring person. I really feel like some Americans do not appreciate the good life we have here. I know I do! !

I have been in the airport in Damascus. I learned a lot about Syria while living in Saudi Arabia. Allthough I did not meet anyone from Syria while living in Saudi. There were many people from many countries working in Saudi.

One of my very special things that I have in my museum is from Syria. Or I was told these things were made in Syria. I know they were not made in Saudi, I purchased the things while in Saudi. They are wooden cookie molds. About nine inches long. The wood is very hard. I don't know how someone could carve the design. Part is machine made. But the part that makes the design of the cookies is hand carved. About a two inch diameter cookies. When this trouble started in Syria, Don said don't guess anyone is carving cookie molds.

I have 65 of these cookie molds. All different patterns. I did make cookies once using the molds. Very pretty. The recipe that was with one of the molds, is made with cream of wheat cereal. Not a very rich cookies. We are very spoiled, like rich cookies.

Yes we could all say a prayer for Syria, especially for the children . . .
