Mosquito

truck issues

Mosquito truck! One week we've got the mosquito truck every day. Now, I haven't seen a mosquito truck in three weeks. We sit in the front yard at night and enjoy yourself and the mosquitoes eat you up. Why don't the city do somethin' about it! Run the truck or just forget about it. I'm tired gettin' et up by mosquitoes. Thank you.

Thanks for

help with flat

I want to thank the young man who stopped the other day and helped my husband with the bad flat that he had on Highway T. I just wanted that young man to know how much it was appreciated. May God bless you.

Be aware of scooters, cycles

Hello, Poplar Bluff. There are now motorcycles and scooters in town. You should look for us instead of us always have to look out for cars pulling out in front of us. More motorscooters and cycles is due to the increased technology. We no longer have to go out and kick start, we just turn on the key, hit the starter button, electronic fueling injection to get great gas mileage. It's a good way to commute and see the country. We're not outlaw bikers. We're doctors, dentists, lawyers and the list goes on. You can say that you cannot see us, but that's not always true. We ride on red, white and blue with a cycle that it would take a blind person not to see. You think we can stop on a dime? We cannot. We have a lot going on with hands and feet. I obey the speed limit and rules of the road. The suicide lane in Poplar Bluff takes on new meaning when you're on a cycle. We certainly can't text or talk. When a person passes me on the right and I'm in the right lane in front of the VA hospital, they saw us but I guess they wanted around faster. We have to obey the laws of the state of Missouri and so should you. One of these times you're gonna kill or maim the wrong person. He may be a person you know. Thank you.

What about

owners rights?

Yes, Speak Out, in regards to the effort to promote a smoking ban in Poplar Bluff, Mo. businesses, I've called in three times, including today, stating that if a business owner owns his property he should have the right to decide whether his customers smoke in his property or not. If the customers do not want to come into his business because smoke offends them. By all means, they should trade elsewhere. But if a man owns his business, he should have the right to decide whether smoking is permitted or not. I would like to hear other opinions on this from business owners in Poplar Bluff. Thank you.
