Letter to the Editor

RSVP says 'Thank you'

Friday, September 30, 2011

To the Editor:

The Retired Senior Volunteer Program recently held their annual Recognition Banquet on Sept. 24, 2011. This banquet is a very special occasion for the volunteers and a good way for RSVP to recognize and applaud the volunteers for all their hard work.

This last year 213 RSVP volunteers worked over 33,600 hours. Figured at local minimum wage that is a savings of nearly $240,000 in labor.

As a way to show their appreciation several local businesses donated money and door prizes. RSVP would like to thank the following businesses for their support: Burger King; Butler County CRC; Carolyn's Fashion House; Commerce Bank; Croy's Perfect Press; Fazoli's; First Christian Church, Men's Class; First Missouri State Bank; Gift Connection; Hastings; Huddle House; La Boutique; McDonalds; Mike & Zach's BBQ To Go; Modern Woodmen; MODOT; Northside Nutrition Center; Orscheln Farm & Home; Pack's Do-It Center; Peoples Community State Bank; Perkins Restaurant; Pizza Hut; Pizza Inn; Poplar Bluff Federal Credit Union; Rodgers Theater; Sears; Simmons Tire; SMTS; Subway; TLP & Associates; Wal-Mart; Westwood Hills Health Care; Zani Coins & Collectibles. RSVP would also like to thank the Butler County Community Resource Council and Board, RSVP Advisory Council; Steve Johnson and the Perkin's Restaurant Staff; the AMVETS Post; AmeriCorps, all the volunteers who helped decorate and clean up afterwards and a very special thank you to the RSVP Volunteers who continue to serve the community of Butler County.
