Ask yourself: “Am I Secure In Christ?”
There are a few age-old questions that people have asked since Jesus died on the cross over 2,000 years ago.
One of those questions is, “What must I do to be saved?”
This was answered in Acts 16:31, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved.”
The second question is “Am I secure in Christ?”
Since this is a spiritual question, we must look to a spiritual place to find the answer.
The reason I made such an obvious statement is because there are lots of opinions on every subject, but the facts outweigh anyone’s opinion concerning spiritual matters, and the Bible is the place where we can get the facts.
The first fact of being secure in Christ is being in Christ.
The phrase “in Christ” is mentioned 78 times in the New Testament in various context.
2 Corinthians 5:17 says, “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”
This new creature is not new because of the things he does or does not do; his actions are the result of being a new creature.
But, the creature itself has changed.
God has put a portion of himself inside the heart of the new creature; therefore, making it no longer body and soul, but now body, soul, and spirit.
We know this by reading 2 Corinthians 1:22, “Who hath sealed us, and given the earnest of the spirit in our hearts.”
So, when a person gets saved and is in Christ, God puts an earnest of his spirit in the person, making a new creature that is sealed. Sealed by definition, to make secure.
Now, my friend, there are a lot of things about God and people that I do not understand.
Things like, how can a person be saved and act this way or that way?
But my understanding or lack of it does not take away from the facts of the Bible. I must believe it for it is the truth.
The Bible tells us in 1 Peter 1:5, “Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.”
And again, in Ephesians 4:30, “And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.”
Romans 8:1 tells us, “There is therefore no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.”
A person might read that and say, “See there, unless you walk in the spirit you are not secure in Christ.”
But I say, “If you’re in Christ you will walk after the spirit and not after the flesh.”
To conclude, yes, the Bible teaches that you are secure in Christ.
But, you must be saved to be in Christ. You must be born again.
I would love to meet you and introduce you to Jesus.
