Frances Winters

Frances E. (Cross) Winters, 88, of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, passed away May 29, 2023, at her home.

She was born May 7, 1935, to Grover and Mae (Robinson) Cross.

She was joined in marriage to Marion L. Winters on March 3, 1962. Frances was a member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church.

She is survived by two daughters, Diana Sherrill (Kenny) of Rolla, and Janice Winters of Poplar Bluff; one son, Roger Winters (Amy); six grandchildren, Matthew Sherrill (Amanda), Grace Sherrill (Dustin), Ben Winters, Aaron Winters, Hannah Winters, and Emma Winters; two great-grandsons, Jacob and Ethan Sherrill; three sisters, Dean Lumpkins, Carol Cross, and Helen Cross, all of Poplar Bluff; three sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law, Barbara Sue Winters of St. Louis, Bill and Peggy (Winters) Sinden of Ballwin, and Barbara Winters of Poplar Bluff.

She was preceded in death by her spouse and parents; a grandson, Caleb Winters; a brother and sister-in-law, George and Mary Cross, two sisters and brothers-in-law, Shirley Summers, Sue and Tom Tarrence, and Ray Lumpkins; brothers and sisters-in-law, Otto and Mary Helen (Winters) Hargrove, Bob and Betty (Winters) Richardson, Dewey and Barbara Winters, and Robert Winters; along with her father and mother-in-law, George and Edna (Murdock) Winters.

The funeral service will begin at 10 a.m. Friday, June 2, 2023, at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Home in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. A private burial will be later at Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri. Bro. Ernie Cate will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorials be made to Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 1600 South 11th St., Poplar Bluff, MO. 63901 or to the Alzheimer’s Association, 9370 Olive Blvd., St. Louis, MO. 63132.
