Vincent Maurer

Vincent P. Maurer of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, Hobe Sound, Florida and Traverers Rest, South Carolina, died peacefully Sunday morning, April 24, 2022, after a prolonged illness.

Vincent was born July 19,1956, in Charlotte, North Carolina.

He was the only son of the late Earl P. Maurer of Poplar Bluff and the late Shirley (Fisher) Maurer of Poplar Bluff and Hobe Sound.

Vincent is survived by his loving sister, Anna Allen, who he had resided with for the last 12 years in both Florida and South Carolina; his sons, Nathan Maurer (Candis) of Poplar Bluff, Anthony Maurer (Alecia) of Sullivan, Missouri, Austin Sutton of Poplar Bluff; daughters, Clarissa Hall (Steve) and Christi Maurer of New Haven, Missouri. Haleigh Murphy (Jon) of Poplar Bluff and eight grandchildren, all residing in Missouri.

Vincent was a graduate of Sacred Heart Elementary School and a lifelong member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Poplar Bluff.

A graduate of Neelyville High School, Vincent was president of FFA (Future Farmers of America) his senior year. Immediately following graduation, he joined the United States Marine Corp.

Following honorable discharge from the Marines, Vincent received his nursing degree from the University of Missouri, Cape Girardeau and began a long and esteemed career as an RN at the John J. Pershing Veterans Hospital in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, where for 31 years he cared compassionately for countless veterans being certified in many fields of nursing care. Vincent retired from the VA in 2010, moving from Poplar Bluff to live in Hobe Sound, Florida, with his mother and sister who adored him.

He was greatly loved for his beautiful soul as well as his many acts of kindness and will be dearly missed.
