Church activities, week of July 19

Thursday, July 22, 2021

ZION LUTHERAN CHURCH, effective Sunday, Aug. 1, will change its Sunday service time from the current 8 a.m. to 8:45 a.m.

This change is the result of a new dual parish agreement between Zion in Poplar Bluff and Faith Lutheran Church in Dexter. Pastor Justin Sponaugle will be serving both congregations with services at Dexter being held at 10:30 a.m.

In other aspects, each church will remain independent of the other.

Pastor Sponaugle will be at Zion on Monday and Wednesday during each week, and at Faith in Dexter on Tuesday and Thursday.

A news release from the churches said, “Both congregations feel that this partnership will help to further God’s Kingdom as they share the Gospel in Southeast Missouri.”

BETHEL CHAPEL CHURCH on Butler County Road 415 will host Vacation Bible School from 6:30-8 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, July 26-28.

Activities for those 12 and under will include Bible lessons, fun, games and snacks.

CROSS STREET PENTECOSTAL CHURCH will feature Brother Vernon Parker as special speaker at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 25.

Everyone is invited to hear the old-fashioned preaching and singing.

TWIN SPRINGS BAPTIST CHURCH, located at 1459 Highway M, will host an 85th anniversary celebration Sunday, July 25, at the church. The event will begin at 1:30 p.m. and will feature special music by the men’s quartet at First Baptist Church and Two Girls Bluegrass. For information, contact Tammy Stricklin at 573-776-4728.
