A 'simple prayer' for everyone

Monday, June 3, 2019

The other night while lying in bed, I began to pray as I always do to thank the Lord for everything he has given me in life and at this time it hit me. It hit me like a stone right between the eyes.

My prayer went something like this:

“Lord I pray every night for forgiveness and to continue to watch over those who I love dearly and those I do not know but need your help. It amazes me Lord how many people pray for the wrong things in life when in reality, they have had it all along. There are those who pray for wealth in their lives but in reality I feel I already have this. I am wealthier Lord than I could ever imagine. What I mean is, Lord you have afforded me my life, something everyone should be remembering is so precious. You have given me my family. A healthy family who stay out of trouble. You have given me parents who I love with all my heart and I know they feel the same towards me. You have given me my home. A safe, secure, clean home. You have given me food on my table. You have given me my job. You have given me my vehicles. You have given me my friends who care about me and my family. But one of the most precious gifts you have afforded me is you. You Lord are my savior in Christ. I say this Lord because I have seen others who do not have the same wealth I do. I have seen those who do not have a family, bad health, cannot stay out of trouble. These people are homeless, unsafe and living in poor conditions. People who are unemployed, have to walk everywhere they go. They feel as if there is no hope in life. So Lord, tonight my prayer is to ask you to watch over those who are not as fortunate to have the riches I have. I know you do covet and watch over them but I just hope and pray they can find their way to allow you to lead them to a better place so they too can enjoy the riches so many others have. Lord, I know I do not attend Church like I should but in my heart and soul I know you are still with me, my family and my friends. Lord, I ask these things in your so precious name… Amen.”

As I close this, I am asking for others, if you currently do not, please include those who are not as fortunate to have the luxuries we have. Yes, I understand we have worked hard for our good fortunes but is there anything wrong with wanting to help others by just saying a simple prayer for them?

God bless you all.
