Groups work well together for area

Friday, February 22, 2019

During its Annual Partnership Luncheon on Friday the Butler County Community Resource Council honored John Fuller as its Person of the Year. Fuller, who works at the University of Missouri Extension of Butler County, said working with the CRC is, “just a natural partnership.”

The CRC was formed in 1992 to “promote coordination and cooperation between social service providers, churches, the business community and the educational system” to help improve the lives of area residents.

Programs under the CRC include Caring Communities, Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA), Teen Parent Mentoring Program and the Retired Senior Volunteer Program. The CRC also partners with other area programs to help meet the needs of the community.

“I think because our vision is on the people that we serve and not the organizations that we serve, we see the big picture at what we’re trying to get at and how we can help each other,” said Fuller who is also on the CRC Board of Directors.

Partnership was a word that keynote speaker Rep. Jeff Shawan also brought up in talking about the CRC and area groups, adding, “We know how to come together and support each other.”

We couldn’t agree more.
