Thanks to Health Dept. for speaker on opioid addiction

Sunday, October 7, 2018

On behalf of the Harviell Community Center, I want to thank Ally Pattillo from the Butler County Health Dept. for speaking to us about the Opioid epidemic taking place around the country. The meeting took place at the HCC at 6 pm, Thursday, Sept. 27.

She taught us how to recognize the effects of an overdose of opioid drugs as well as similar signs from other drugs and how to deal with these situations.

For people addicted to drugs, Ally told us about the Behavioral Health Clinic (BHG) and the Family Counseling Center (FCC) as places to go for help.

Sometimes people have left over opioid pain medications and don't know how to dispose of them. Ally informed us that the Poplar Bluff Police Dept. can receive these meds and dispose of them safely.

Big thanks go to Ally's boss, Robert Hudson, for sending her to us. I recommend going to the Butler County Health Dept. for more information on MANY health issues.

Thanks to the DAR for helping to reach out and help.
