Carter County Courthouse challenge issued to officials

Thank you for covering our Carter County Courthouse challenge. Speaking for supporters of courthouse repair and Friends of the Carter County Courthouse, we appreciate your photos and news stories which expand public awareness of our struggle to save our historic courthouse.

All we ask is the go-ahead from our Carter County Commissioners to begin a pledge campaign to raise funds to restore our courthouse. If the commissioners can actually get the funds to build a justice center, including a courtroom, judge's chambers, etc., okay. But many citizens want to see the historic courthouse building restored to house the rest of the county offices. We do not want this project to be delayed, allowing the vacant building to deteriorate.

We truly appreciate your interest in this historic landmark and your coverage of our efforts.
