Your life is a ministry

Tuesday, August 21, 2018

Your life as a Christian is a ministry, for you were saved to serve not to be ministered unto. Even the Son of God said, "I came not to be ministered to, but to minister." What impels a Christian to serve his fellowmen? Is it not primarily an extension of Jesus' life and ministry? And that ministry is to extend beyond close friends to every person in need whether their need be physical, material or spiritual. Every kind word is an extension of Jesus' ministry through you. Every good deed, though it be but the giving of a cup of cold water to a thirsty brother in Jesus' name, is as though he is ministering through you. One of the most satisfying things in life is to reach out a helping, sustaining hand to someone in need or to who is about to fall under the temptation and pressures of life. An earnest, sincere word of witness for Christ may lead another to commit their life to him and be saved-what a ministry! Never minister unto or witness unto another because you think it is a duty imposed on you but as a natural response from Christ who lives in you. While enjoying the peace and blessedness of knowing your sins are forgiven and the strength and courage to meet the perplexing issues and situations each day, can you restrain yourself from telling others what Christ can do for them. That, too, is a ministry. Be careful not to let an opportunity pass to render a kindly, loving service to another-you might entertain an angel of unawares. "He who would be Chief among you, let him be your servant," said Jesus.
