Vet misses volunteer

[MAIL] To All Concerned Veterans

I am contacting Speak Out about the Veterans' Administration Volunteer Services Department and the patients and visitors' at the VA Medical Center.

As a veteran and patient and also formerly a volunteer at this VA facility it is with a sad and heavy heart that I would have to contact the Speak Out column in your newspaper.

We the patients at the VA are currently saddened by the course that the Volunteer Department has taken in the last year or so at OUR medical center.

The Voluntary Services staff and head of the department has been unfair and used their position as a personal vendetta against one of the best and knowledgeable volunteers with one of the most prestigious and rewarding records of any volunteer at this facility. Miss T. (Terry) L. (Lay) is a volunteer at VA not only with the Voluntary Service Division but also she is very active with the Vietnam Veterans of America as well as being on hand to support all veterans at any festivity that is planned. You can count on her as a vital part of the VA and is an essential person when meeting needs of veterans here. She is always there to support people who are looking for a kind word or smile to help them through their day.

She was unfairly suspended and told she could not do what she does best.

I ask all veterans who have been at the VA to let the Medical Center Director the Department of Veterans Affairs and even their Congressman know if they feel Ms. L(Lay) has impacted their lives also in anyway.

In conclusion it is a sad thing and is suspended just because someone is inadequate themselves and jealous of someone else's accomplishments.

I remain a concerned veteran.

P. S. Please do not "pigeon-hole" this letter but print it instead.
