What happened

to smooth

highways?

What ever happened to smooth highways? I cannot believe that 160 Hwy. after they spent all that money and all that time on redoing the highway that they have let it pass inspection with all of the riff-raff of up and down over weaving. You can actually be seasick from it. So if you think that is a good highway you should travel North Hwy. 67 and you have a smooth sailing up that way, but boy, wait till wintertime comes and ice gets on that highway you are going to have so many people in ditches and whatever -- my goodness! They don't have my approval this time.

God bless this

good woman

Hello, Speak Out. We are a group from a local church that visits the nursing homes. The home on 67 South has an employee that seems to always be there. One of us asked her if she ever had a day off. She said with a smile Oh, yes, I'm just helping out today. You can see her heart is truly in what she does. May God bless her and may God bless this home.

Integrity, honesty

gone in politics

It's Sunday morning and I just watched the TV show, "Full Measure," and they said there was this huge shortage of border guards because they can't find enough people who can pass a lie detector test to qualify for the job as a border guard.

How about a pre-requisite for being able to hold public office we require lie detector tests. And for the first, very first candidate that this be required of I nominate Hillary Clinton and just to keep things fair we'll go ahead give the Don a polygraph, too. Of course, it will never happen. You couldn't even get the City Council of Poplar Bluff on a polygraph machine or the Butler County commissioners and you sure couldn't get the prosecuting attorney. Sure am glad I'm an old guy because this country is about done and it all goes back to lack of integrity, lack of honesty, self-interest.

Finally happy

with TV service

I keep reading in Speak Out so many people are not happy with their New Wave Cable and I can understand that. I used to have it myself until I got DISH. Now my whole neighborhood has switched to DISH and we love our TV service and the price. Mine is half what New Wave was. Sure it will lose signals in a storm for a few minutes but so does New Wave. I have gotten 16 friends and neighbors to switch and no I don't work for DISH I'm just happy about my TV service -- finally! Thank you.

An idea to help

the economy

Hello, Speak Out. I was just listening to the governor of Illinois on the TV and I had a brilliant idea to help boost the local economy. I recommend that anyone in Butler County or the State of Missouri for that matter with an annual income of less than $20,000 per year be exempt from all property taxes and all sales taxes and all vehicle registration fees and that would just raise everybody's standard of living except for those who are somewhat overpaid from those tax funds and they would have to take a corresponding cut in pay.
