Getting on soapbox about transplants

Saturday, September 10, 2016

To the Editor:

The subject I am going to write about is something that I have wanted to get on the soapbox about for years. But just have not done that.

It is about transplants. Who says we are supposed to live for years and years. If one has made every day a good day for them and their family, one should be happy with that. In recent years has been men getting transplants. Who have had a successful life in many fields. Like Mickey Mantle, the baseball player. He received one. Only lived a short while after receiving the transplant. I read that he had become very fond of drink. Now there is another baseball player wanting a heart transplant.

There will never be enough organs donated for all of the people who need one, but I think it would only be right if those were given to children who came into this world with a bad heart or liver. I know of a young lady who will never be able to hold a good job or have children because of her bad heart. But will never get a transplant, because she is just a "no body" which this is not right!!

Is isn't so much of how many years we have, it is what we do in those years, that really counts.

P.S. I guess we can pray about this!
