PBFD chief praises community support following DT fire

Monday, August 15, 2016

To All Involved,

The members of the Poplar Bluff Fire Department would like to express their greatest appreciation for all those involved in supporting us during the major downtown fire in Poplar Bluff on Wednesday, August 10, 2016. To say "THANK YOU" just doesn't cut it and there were entirely too many of you to personally acknowledge!!

Our profound thanks goes to the community as a whole, our fellow brothers with the Butler County Fire Protection, Fire Chief Bob Fredwell, SEMO Red Cross; Black River Coliseum and their staff: the members of the Poplar Bluff Police Department and Police Chief Danny Whiteley; The United Gospel Rescue Mission workers and Rescue Mission Director/PBFD Chaplain Gregory Kirk; the men and women of the Butler County EMS; the Daily American Republic; the P.B.F.D. retirees and their families who helped; the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center of the cold towels and care of our injured firefighters; the Poplar Bluff Motor Pool for their exceptional response to our aid; the Street Department; the Municipal Utilities Electric Department and Maintenance Department for their efforts at Station 1 and in keeping the area safe and regaining those necessities as fast as possible; and the Water Plant for keeping us supplied with ample water.

We also want to thank the Poplar Bluff Chamber of Commerce, Kneibert Clinic, Maya's Mexican Restaurant; Domino's; McDonald's; Pizza Inn; and Subway for the food and drinks supplied throughout the day to keep us going.

We sincerely appreciate all of the aid rendered from each and every one of you who reached out to us yesterday in a show of support, concern, compassion and involvement for us and especially for the City of Poplar Bluff. Our apologies to anyone we may have missed!
