Smith didn't

write the letter

The Letter to the Editor in the Friday, July 15, 2016 paper by J. R. Smith was not written by J. R. Smith. That has been going around on the Internet for the past two years.

Sad to see

Hastings close

I wanted to put a message in the paper about Hastings closing. I for one am very, very sad. I've been using Hastings since it opened its doors and the staff there are wonderful. They are absolutely polite and helpful and I have never ever encountered one of them have a so-called "bad day." They are always very, very nice to customers. So anybody out there that receives an application from some of the employees looking for another job when they do close, please hire them because they have been trained to be very nice to the public. You can't say that about a lot of places in town because a lot of businesses in town that have one or two or even more employees that are very hateful and act like smart alecks and not in tune with what the customers wants and needs. They are just hateful some time. They have never been that way at Hastings-- ever! Not even when they're new and overwhelmed with the people in line. They keep their calm. Hastings did one thing right -- they trained their staff to be very nice to the public. And I just wanted to say I feel very bad for them that they are losing their jobs. It was a wonderful store. It's a sad thing for Poplar Bluff, but other businesses and bosses out there keep in mind -- you'll have a good employee if you get a Hastings employee.

Agree with

Dobbs 100 percent

I just got through reading the Sunday paper for July 17, 2016 the article about Mark Dobbs. I agree with him one hundred percent. I think we need to hear more from other politicians such as Sheriff Dobbs and all our other elected representatives. They need to start speaking up and doing something aside from just talking. To Sheriff Dobbs. Well said. Thank you.

Put racism back

in the closet

When you counter black lives matter with hey, all lives matters why don't you just tell that Susan B. Komen Women's Breast Cancer Research Center, hey, knock it off with the breast cancer research -- all cancers needs to be researched! All cancers suck! Do you get what I'm sayin'? There's a reason behind the black lives matter because there is. I could go into great detail, but it's not an opportunity for racists to act and be openly racist. You can still put that back into the closet where it belongs.
