Social media

and the facts

Social Media has become the new "norm" for communicating. It has become the passage where people can voice their opinions and be "heard" . During last week's heartbreaking news for the community everyone's true colors shined bright and bold. For some reason it doesn't matter if your momma taught you good manners or you dad instilled good morals in you- when you login on facebook and topix all hell breaks loose and everything goes out the window. Yes, the tragic accident that caused a little girl to lose her life was horrible. Here is what has been forgotten: When you decide that the DAR is not doing their job by releasing information to you to suit your gossip needs and "first-to-know" syndrome you become a bully! A BULLY! What you fail to realize is that before releasing information the DAR CONFIRMS, EDITS, and DOUBLE CHECKS their source. This is something EVERYONE should do before putting others on blast. There is no doubt about how horrible this incident is and what a great loss our community has suffered as a result. The person at fault is also a son. My request of everyone is this- do not become so engulfed in trying to be the first one with information or eager to judge others without knowing the full story. Instead, please confirm, edit and double check your sources and then (AND ONLY THEN) should you even consider releasing that information.

May God Bless.
