Another view on American violence

To the Editor:

Once again our country is confronted with a mass shooting. Our politicians and our president either have no idea what to do or else they blame the tool (i.e. weapon).

Let me present another side that I have not seen discussed:

1) For 20 years or more, the entertainment industry has been producing ever more graphic and horrible movies with murder and slaughter as the main theme.

2) The video gaming industry provides easy access to anyone to "kill" various and sundry "people" in a variety of ways.

3) The United States Supreme Court twists the Constitution so as to justify the murder and maiming of millions of unborn babies. (Recently it was exposed that the unborn children were being harvested for body parts!)

4) Several liberal states have passed legislation that legalizes "assisted suicide."

5) The daily death toll in Chicago at the hands of young black men perpetrated mostly on other young black men.

These all have the effect of de-sensitizing Americans, especially young Americans, to the sanctity of human life. Just as Hitler and the Nazis de-sensitized many people to the "Sanctity of Life" in the past, we may be heading in the same direction in America. Look at Stalin in Russia, Pol Pot in Cambodia, ISIL in the Middle East, or the "cleansing" in communist China's past.

Do we seek to place blame? Do we look for solutions? Do we have the strength of will to restore the "Sanctity of Human Life" in America? Or do we continue down this path to more and more mass murders?

Instead of removing Christianity from America, shouldn't we be encouraging religious participation by all peace loving religions? Attendance at Service on the Sabbath, as chosen by the individual, has declined to abysmal levels.

The breakdown in the family structure and that leaves most children with little or no guidance in their lives is a disgrace in our country. Isn't the fact that 70% of babies born out of wedlock in a particular group of people disturbing enough to warrant action by our leaders in and out of government? President Johnson and the Democratic Party launched the "War on Poverty? that has created entire generations of "Dependent" individuals and has been less of a success than the "War on Drugs!"

I Pray for America and I Fear for America!
