To the Editor:

The Three Rivers College Board of Trustees, administration, faculty, and staff, along with the Three Rivers Endowment Trust, extend our deepest condolences to the family of Dr. E.T. Hansbrough, who will long be remembered for his service and support to the college.

During his lifetime, Dr. Hansbrough served the college in many capacities.

He served on the College's Board of Trustee from 1972 to 1992. During his time on the board, Three Rivers earned full accreditation by the North Central Association; moved from a scattering of downtown locations to the present College campus; and constructed the Westover Administration and Classroom building, Rutland Library, Crisp Technology Center, and Arrettia and Herschel Bess Activity Center. Also during that time, the men's basketball team won two national championships.

Dr. Hansbrough was a founding board member and the first chairman of the Three Rivers Endowment Trust, the fundraising arm of the college that was established in 2010. He was a staunch supporter of the Endowment Trust's effort to raise funds to benefit Three Rivers' students and programs.

We appreciate Dr. Hansbrough's belief that our area benefits from a strong community college that provides educational opportunities to our residents, an educated workforce to our employers, and a better quality of life in our communities. His service to Three Rivers will benefit the area for years to come.
