Good ballfield

demolished

So the Poplar Bluff High School tore down its baseball field. Was it dangerous? Nope! Was it poorly built? Nope! It was demolished because another is being built as part of the new high school. This new high school and athletic facility are being paid for by the largest tax increase in the history of Butler County. So will be new baseball field at any point see the average test scores? Will kids in Butler County get better education because a perfectly good baseball field has been demolished. I think not. And yet we continue to throw good money after the same result in our education system. Poplar Bluff R-1 has some of the lowest results in our area of the state and yet it is believed that all we need to do to fix poor results is to spend more money, build more buildings and pay the administration more. How many times are we going to be told this and how many times are we going to swallow this line of bilge being fed to us? The definition of insanity is "doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results." Are the people of Butler County really that insane? I hope not.

City being

ripped off

I would like to request that a survey be taken for the August 2013 bond rate of 8 percent that the previous council voted for. We know that CDs are only paying 2 percent of less so it seems to me the city is being ripped off. So this probably won't make the paper, but it seems to me, someone needs to look into this. Since they want to criticize the current council so much, let's look into the previous council.
