How did he get

all that money?

Do you know as somebody who spent their life working in Poplar Bluff, barely made a living, barely had a roof over their head. I'm just curious when watching this deal on the TV -- this Representative Dennis Hastert of Illinois. Now he was gonna pay $3.5 million --million dollars to keep somebody quiet. Where did he get that kind of money? A million dollars is ten times $100,000. If you had no expenses whatsoever look how many years you would have to work at $100,000 a year to have $3.5 million, so my question for Mr. Hastert would not be whether or not he was a pedophile. It would be whether or not he was taking bribes and payola because his salary from being a school teacher switching over to being a representative in government. How in the world does he come up that kind of surplus money honestly. Thank you very much. Of course, Don, I know you're a Republican and you probably won't print this, but that's okay. It don't keep that man from being a crook. And you being a Republican don't make you a crook.

Clean up

the east side

You know the city wanted to clean their city up, they would start with the east side. There's a bunch of sore eyes over there that needs to be tore down. They been standing for about 50 years and they're empty.

Advice for the

city council

I'm calling in regard to the City Council. I feel strongly that Dr. Rushin should step down. In addition, I also think they should be searching for a new city manager. It's like our city is still in limbo. We have Kaplan out. Now it is time to find another city manager. I think we need a new focus group one that can be trusted and not necessarily someone who is from the good old boys' system. I hope the council takes that into advisement.

Officers' work

appreciated

We would like to thank the officers that recovered all things from my brother's grave and the other people's graves. We wanted to tell them thank you very much. We greatly appreciated it.

Malpractice

for city govt.

You know if a doctor makes a terrible mistake he carries insurance --he's sued for malpractice. It's never in the newspaper, but you know it's incredible how many times the local medical facilities have been sued. A lot of times they're settled out of court, out of town. Usually if you have an issue with a local medical facility you have to go to Springfield or St. Louis to hire an attorney because the local guys don't want to tick off their club members. You know the guys they're playing golf with every weekend. So shouldn't someone be financially responsible for the incredible loss of money that Mr. Kaplan cost the community?

And I think obviously that Mr. Kaplan and those on the council who supported his mistakes should probably be grouped in a law suit to recover those losses. That money didn't come out of thin air. That money that was wasted belongs to the citizens of Poplar Bluff. Nobody's got the guts to do anything about it, I guess.

Don! Where are you? It's fine to talk about a problem, now do something to rectify it --restitution is in order. Make those responsible pay. If somebody runs into your car, and it's their fault, you want 'em to fix it. What's the difference? Are they immune? Huh?
