Remembering sacrifices

Speak Out. Lest we forget.

Memorial Day is about more than burnt hotdogs, cold beverages and family reunions. On this 2015 I would like to remember my friend, Doug. Call sign Dino (Martino). Its now been 35 years since he was killed in the line-of-duty. In a place with no name.

Performing a job that few knew about, and fewer still remember. But I remember. I remember the example he set for all to see. Calm, courage under fire. Leadership in adversity, absolute resolution in the execution of his duty. I pray for you brother.

I pray that somehow, you know that you did not die in vain. I also pray for all the brave American patriots, past, present, and those yet to come, who go out into the dark, dangerous night to do their countries bidding. Even as you read this, there are those out there who are sacrifice their time with children, spouses, loved ones, and friends. Patriots who may be sacrificing wellness of mind, body, and soul. May has even their lives. To preserve the way of life we are accustomed to.

Lest we forget, indeed.

Looking for

realistic rent

Yes, this is to the Poplar Bluff Landlords' Association. I feel they need to take into consideration the poverty level that we live within --the basic income that people are earning. The average person is probably working between $8-$10 an hour here in Poplar Bluff. If they were to sit down and figure this up and they take out taxes people aren't making very much. They're bringing home between $800 and $900 a month and then having to pay $500 to $550 to $650 a month for rent. That doesn't leave a family or a person very much to live on. So you know if we would get things back in order people might be able to live and take better care of their property and feel like they have a reason for working or going to work. So there's a lot of things to consider instead of just self, greed and yes, I know there are repairs but those repairs probably would become even less if people took pride and knew they could afford to stay somewhere longer. Thank you for this consideration and have a great day.

All should

be equal

Yes, I'd like to speak out about the buses at Twin Rivers School District. My daughter just came in said that some of the buses are air conditioned and some of them are not. On these hot days why is it don't know about this? That their kids are having to ride hot buses when other kids are riding air-conditioned buses? Thank you.

No complaints about DMV

With all the negative comments about the service at the DMV I just had to write in to say that I was greeted with a friendly "hello" when I walked in the door and had my license plates renewed in less than 5 minutes! This wasn't my first experience with the DMV; my previous visit was just as fast and friendly. No complaints here!

Put Zap2it

back on TV

Hey!!! New Wave Cable Co. what happened to Zap2it? I pay $72.38 per month for your cable. I'm 77 years old. I mow yard little at a time, read by Bible and watch a lot of TV sitting in my recliner chair, drinking cold water.

Please!!! put Zap2it back on TV.

Think again,

seat belt for

motorcycle

This is in reference to "a seat belt on a motorcycle." Evidently this person has never ridden a motorcycle because you really want to be strapped onto something that you can't get off of. At least with a vehicle you've got something around you for protection. The motorcycle there ain't nothing between you and the pavement and you definitely don't want a seat belt holding you down with the bike on the pavement. And if you want to complain, what about school buses? They don't have seat belts. How would you like to be driving a school bus with 60 kids and go in a ravine or have it catch on fire and try to unhook 60 seat belts and get them kids out of there? You need to do some real deep thinking and one you just said is stupid!
