Refuse to take

common core

Just wanted to let all parents know that Poplar Bluff will be starting Common Core testing for grades 3-8. If you chose not to have your child's and your information shared with the world you must refuse the test for your child, because they have hidden this test under Map test, which you can't opt out of you must refuse it. Check out Sikeston and read what's going on before it's to late! CHECK OUT JANE ROBBINS COMMON CORE ON U TUBE. Also why hasn't the paper done anything on the subject?

DAR is BS

Schrieber has backbone! What a bunch of Bull S . . . .!! Schriby must have written that himself. Even Bagby wouldn't print crap like that. Even for the DAR that was poor journalism. Where was his backbone when the other city council let the police station roof become Poplar Bluff Falls? Don't say DeGaris didn't know about the leaks as he used to work (?) there, sure was nice that they could get him on the city council so he couldn't file his claim in court against the city police force. Where was backbone then? I don't always get to read that part of the daily wipe as others get to the outhouse before me and that part seems to be used first. Too bad there isn't another paper in town so we could get all the truth--but not in Poplar Bluff.

Parking lot

a disgrace

Now that the snow and ice are history, perhaps it's time for someone to step up and take responsibility for the parking lot/thoroughfare at the Poplar Bluff Square. This has turned into another embarrassment for the city of P.B. Surely whoever owns this real estate has some sense of pride. Perhaps the business owners in the Square could get together and ask the owner to resurface the place (including the entrance from Westwood Blvd.) before it becomes completely unusable. Of course Mr. Kaplan will no doubt require a feasibility be done by a Michigan firm before any improvements are begun, so I wouldn't look for anything to be done anytime soon.

Mr. K., If you are smart enough to manage city business, then you should have been smart enough not to get into a letter writing contest with a man who buys his ink by the barrel, even if you do actually think (as you stated)..the DAR is a tabloid run by nonprofessionals. What an insult to....Just a citizen.
