PB man a good

Samaritan

I would like to take this time to recognize the selfless service of one of your community members. My family and I were traveling through Missouri on Friday the 21st when we were involved in a serious motor vehicle accident on Hwy. 60 East of Mountain View. My wife and daughter were both injured and taken to the hospital in Mountain View.

Larry Teters of Poplar Bluff was on the scene at our accident and was instrumental in assisting to provide initial assistance in ensuring all involved were moved to safety away from the roadway. When we were moved to the hospital, Larry collected all of our belongings and my other 2 daughters and took them with him to Poplar Bluff to try and rent a vehicle so that our family would be able to reunite and return home to Nebraska. Upon finding that the only rental company available at that hour was not able to assist my daughters because I was not available to sign for the car and other rules prohibiting renting them a vehicle through other methods of payment, Larry took my girls into his home to warm up and get changed into clean dry clothes. After this he got back into his vehicle and drove my girls the 88 miles back to Mountain View in the ice storm to ensure they were reunited with the rest of us. He followed this up by assisting with getting all 3 of my girls checked into a hotel while my wife was transported to Springfield.

Larry never left my family wondering how we would be cared for. Larry not only responded immediately at an accident when needed, but put himself at risk driving over 150 miles through dangerous conditions thinking not of himself, but of the safety and well being of strangers.

In a time when it's easier to find stories of crime and selflessness, I wanted you to know that in your community is the finest example of selfless service and good Christian values that I have had an opportunity to witness. Due to the kindness and this one man and his family who sacrificed their time for us, there is now at least 1 Nebraska family that is a fan of 1 small town in Southern Missouri.

Head Start

open; R-4 not!!

Well, couldn't believe school closing this morning. Neelyville R-4 closed, but Neelyville Head Start open, no buses running. What are they thinking? Little ones have to get up and get out in this mess while big ones get to lay up in the house all day.

Shame! Shame! Someone's not thinking on the right track. They're not the only ones check this closing at the Head Start open, no buses running. Thank you.

A smart

chicken?

Hello, I'm just calling to say something that I find very interesting as a consumer. I go to the grocery store and I see this "Smart Chicken." You know I pick the chicken up, I might shake it round a little bit and that chicken doesn't do anything! I get it up to the checkout. They scan it. It doesn't do anything. I figure, Hey! This chicken should do something, it says it's smart. I'm gonna take it home and put it in a skillet with lard. My thought is put that money toward our children who they say are dumb, but who are not! My grandchildren are both gifted and let me tell you they were free ranged. That's it all the way. What is so smart about a "Smart Chicken?" What's this chicken gonna do, huh? What's is important? You know, what's it gonna do? Jump up and talk to me? Will I be smarter when I eat it? They didn't even let this chicken grow long enough . . . I just like to know, why do they call it "Smart Chicken?" Thank you, Speak Out.
