PUXICO, Mo.-- Stella Peters, 96, of Puxico, died Sunday, Jan. 4, 2015, at the St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
Mrs. Peters was born June 26, 1918 in Arkansas. She was a 1936 graduate of Puxico High School, and a self-employed homemaker. She attended the Egypt Church.
On Dec. 24, 1936 she married Dwight Peters. He preceded her in death on April 30, 1991.
Survivors include two sons, Dallas and Ronald Peters both of Dexter; three daughters, Alice Latham of Sikeston, Shella Johnston of Reno, Nev., and Janice Gill of Cape Girardeau; two sisters, Loretta Roach of Puxico and Lucetria Tetley of Overland, Mo.; 12 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, JC and Brady Vardell.
Pallbearers include Ken Latham, Todd Gill, John Peters, Jay Tucker, Steve Vardell, and Benny Vardell. Honorary pallbearers include Leslie Tucker, Sarah Sandlesky, Kristie Howell, Tonya Uelsmann, Renae Maus, Sabrena Peters, Tamra Johnston and Shannon Duggar.
The visitation will be at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Morgan-Sifford Funeral Home in Puxico. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Wayne Burchett officiating. Burial will follow in the Puxico City Cemetery.
Memorial donations are asked to be sent to the Stoddard County. Children's Home and the Egypt Church.
