Day By Day

Wednesday, January 7, 2015

As a new year dawns and a new decade opens its portals, bidding harried mankind to enter, we dare not try to envisage what the next ten years may bring. Rather let us accept the challenges each day may bring with courage and trust as a child of God. Faith and trust in God may be thought of in terms of a life time, but they become a reality and a real source of courage and strength when exercised in everyday experiences. God taught Israel a lesson in every day faith and dependence upon Him when He sent manna to them each day. God said unto Moses, "I will rain bread form heaven for you; and the people shall go out and gather a day's portion every day, that I may prove them, whether they will walk in My law or not." Exodus 16:4. Amp. Version. God did not tell them it would be available for forty years of wilderness wandering, but each day it was there. Jesus taught us to ask only for our daily bread. If we can but trust Him to see us through today we need not become anxious about tomorrow. The manna was given each morning for the whole day. Does this suggest we should prepare ourselves each morning spiritually with a prayer of thanksgiving and a few moments of God's Word? The new year may bring sickness, sorrow, heartache, sore temptation and fearful things to face. But if we "abide in Him and He in us" day by day we shall overcome all through Him who alone can give inner peace.
