MALDEN, Mo.-- Verna Bee Hargraves, 84, of Gideon, died Saturday, Jan. 3, 2015, at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.
She was born June 2, 1930, in Lawrenceburg, Tenn., to Mack and Lynn Mae Clark Yocum, who both preceded her in death. She was a member of the Stanfield General Baptist Church in Gideon.
On Oct. 12, 1946, she married James D. "Junior" Hargraves in Piggott, Ark. He survives.
Other survivors include one daughter, Sherry Sturgeon of Neelyville; one son, Danny F. Hargraves (Angelita) of Wichita, Kan.; two sisters, Cora Cobb of Lawrenceburg, and Myra Barham of Portageville; two brothers, Winfred Yocum of Savannah, Tenn. and Hillard Yocum of Lawrenceburg; four grandchildren, James Hargraves, Kelly Dunivan, Chris Hargraves and Beth Hargraves; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Michelle Potts; two sisters, Edna Roberts and Mae Box; three brothers, Carlos Yocum, Hoyt Yocum, and Harold Yocum; and one son-in-law, Tony Sturgeon.
The visitation will be at noon Tuesday, Jan. 6, at the Stanfield General Baptist Church. The funeral will follow at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the church with the Rev. Andy Evans officiating. Burial will be in the Stanfield Cemetery in Clarkton. Bradshaw Funeral Home of Malden is in charge of arrangements.
