I certainly don't believe everything in the newspaper. There's a lot of things about it that I disagree with; however, I certainly would rather the newspaper be running this city than the city manager we have brought in here from the north.

12 days at sea?

There's no way

I was watchin' the news where they rescued 65 or 66 years old man been out in the sea for 12 days, he comes back his lips is all nice and dry, no sunburn on him. It looks like a one-day beard on him--like five o'clock shadow--and he's claimed he was out there for 12 days and he lived on the juice from fish for water--B.S! That's all I've got to say. It never happened! I've seen three people that was lost at sea for six days one time when I was up in New York when I was in the Army in Fort Dix, N. J. and they already was dehydrated and looked bad.

This old guy looks like he's been out sunning on the beach or somethin' -- no bad sunburn, five o'clock shadow and good health and high-spirited. Him and his little boats been campin' somewhere for 11 days then he drove that thing out there and run out of gas for publicity. Be a reality show on him before long. Thank you. God bless America. But, boy, what some people won't do for their 15 minutes of fame. Thank you.

Old Whiteley

dead; shame

Yeah, Old Whiteley. I see where the guy with a bow and arrow killed Old Whiteley. Said he even take and called him back to him twice. What did he do call him out of the city limits so he could shoot it? I think it's a shame to kill a white deer myself. It oughta be a state law stating you can't, but I always heard and I've heard of the game warden confiscating antlers that you couldn't transfer any deer, meat, transport it or anything else without the tag. Now, the tag has got to be with that white buck or the tag has got to be with that 110 pounds of meat he donated. To me, I think, the little boy, I think he kinda overdid it and broke conservation laws. I think the conservation department ought to confiscate that white buck and put it in a museum theirselves. Cause this guy did break the rules as I know 'em. As far as I know it's always been you cannot have no kind of meat after a certain date in November until next year and you can't transport it without the tags and you can't have the meat in the freezer without the tags. Now somebody has gotten meat illegally or they got the white buck illegally and I think that needs to be investigated by the Conservation Department. Shame on you for getting that deer. You know it was a city deer. You couldn't get out there in the wild and call a wild one. This was wasn't scared of people or nothing and you had the gall to shoot him. Shame! Shame! Shame!

Thank god

for honesty

I want to thank God for honest people like Marion at Menard's. She turned in my money that I had lost and I really appreciate that. Because of their policy she couldn't accept a reward so I wanted to say thank you, Marion, and I want to thank all the folks at Menard's. They wouldn't and honestly believe that she could not accept a reward or a thank you gift cause of their policy. Thank you very much.
