There's a Lion Out There

Thursday, December 4, 2014

The writer of Proverbs describes the lazy, idolent person well, saying "The slothful man saith, There is a lion in the way; a lion is in the streets." 26:13. It borders on the ridiculous, but he makes the point. The man who does not want to work or assume any responsibility fabricates excuses that he passes off as reasons why he doesn't. Of course, he is either deceiving himself or making others bigger fools than he. Most people will brave the streets to go to their work that provided material gain. But many see the imaginary lion in the way when called upon to render a community service. If these things will take some of their time allotted for their personal pleasure, or will cost them money or labor they avoid them as they would a lion. It just may be possible that some people are prevented from attending worship services of the Church because of lions in the road or streets. These lions are not visible to the truly dedicated, nor will they attack them. Lions-fear of responsibility , fear of failure, feeling of inadequacy and lack of faith and devotion prevent many from performing the will of God for their lives. Do not fear the lions, they disappear when you set your heart and soul on finding and doing the will of God. So don't deceive yourself, you are accountable to God for your life and the work whereunto He has called you.
