No bikes on

sidewalks?

Kids in housing sure do listen when they say no bikes on sidewalk. You see 2 or 3 everyday on sidewalks.

Why runs in

the streets?

Since the city has spent millions of dollars offering you places to run at the coliseum, McLane Park and the Shelby Road running track and the school system allows you to run at the football stadium. Why is it necessary for you to run in the city streets after dark in dark clothes where nobody can see you? Are you attempting to get hit? Thank you.

Give them

a memory

On Monday Nov 3rd I went to the 8th grade girls tournament game between Twin Rivers and Naylor. It wasn't a bad game. Twin Rivers lost by eight points. No biggee. The thing that bothered me the most was it was an eighth grade tournament. For most of the Twin Rivers eighth graders it was their last game as an eighth grader. So why did most of them finish out the game on the bench, while the "special" seventh graders played. You would think that the coach would have gave them that one thing to remember.

A warning

to elderly

This is to warn elderly people around and in Butler County. There's a couple going around dragging three little kids with 'em showing people they are destitute and got no money to buy food or the babies' food and would you like to give us your scraps so they can make some money.

And the truth of the matter is this: she's gettin' welfare checks, food stamps and WIC; he's getting food stamps and a full disability check. So all that they are gettin' from you people for their scrap goes for drugs, cigarettes and booze NOT for those three babies. I just thought you guys should have a warning about this. Thank you.

Judges letter

was excellent

On Nov. 3rd, you had an article "Government Judges Are Destroying Freedom," by Tom Melton from Doniphan. I thought that was an excellent piece that he wrote and I thank him for it. God bless you.

Smoke ruins

the evening

So many of our citizens have a breathing problem with smoke.

My friends and I enjoy sitting outside these beautiful evenings to visit. What ruins the evening is when someone in the neighborhood chooses to burn leaves and trash and the smell of smoke is so strong that it is necessary to go inside. Then, even the smell of smoke gets inside our houses because the whole neighborhood gets the effect of smoke.

In Batson Mini Farms and PP Hwy., it seems someone often burns trash.

So I ask you people to please consider another means of disposing of your trash beside burning so we can enjoy fresh air without choking. Thanks for you consideration.

Really scary at train station

I think it would be nice if we rebuild the stairs at the train station, but I wonder why there's no police protection down there. For years I've picked someone up and let 'em off like a three o'clock in the morning. I have not one time ever seen an officer drive by or come in and check to see if everything is all right. I just wondered if maybe the paper could find out why there's no police protection down there especially for women! It's really scary.
