Volunteer to

fix staircase

Holy Moley! The grand staircase at the depot! I've said for years that it will never be replaced even though they got the money. They keep rejecting one bid after another. My thought is, being an old country boy from Butler County all my life and a good taxpaying Democrat, why can't some of these big construction companies from around here get together and say, Hey, let's build those staircases, and everyone of them come down there with a crew, tear it out and build it in a matter of a few weeks and get it over with and say, Poplar Bluff, this is a present to you all. Happy birthday! Whatever. And do the job. They complain about stuff going out of Poplar Bluff on the business stuff, we'll let's just volunteer and do this at home!

Now, I'm an old man in a wheelchair, but I will come down there and help bust that concrete from my wheelchair. I'll help break it up. I'll help do anything I can do from my wheelchair. I'll carry sandwiches, sodies, pop, back and forth to the workers. Anything they want me to do, I'll volunteer to do it. Let's get these big construction companies here in Poplar Bluff to donate their time and just all of them pitch in and say, Hey, we're gonna be there bright and early, bright eyed and bushy tailed and do this job and do it right for Poplar Bluff and make our city proud. How about it, Poplar Bluff? Should we get behind this or not?
