Bravo on

DAR editorial

I wanted to say Bravo! on the editorial in today's paper [Friday, Sept. 26, 2014] regarding the city council and the new city manager picking a London company over our local for the city employees' health insurance. It is a disgrace to not only pick this company but to pay $17,000 more and I think it is a shame, it's a disgrace and I'm very disappointed as a resident of the city of Poplar Bluff I can only see that being passed on to us, the taxpayers.

Also, I wanted to make a comment that while everyone realizes the city hall is old. Now, all of a sudden, we have a new city manager, the building isn't good enough. Again, more taxes I can see coming up. I have no problem with repairing the building, but, c'mon, there's gotta be a point where we just can't keep the checkbook open for the new city manager.

Anyhow, again, great job. I appreciated the editorial today and thank you for a great job. Bye.

No loyalty

to Poplar Bluff

Speak Out, Obviously, the city council and the new city manager have no loyalty to City of Poplar Bluff. What I'm curious about since they don't have any loyalty to the City of Poplar Bluff and since Mr. Kaplan can write a check on any and all city funds on deposit wherever they have bank accounts, is he personally bonded and ensured so if he decides to write himself a big check and leave the way the preacher did over at Dexter that the city will be indemnified for any cash he might abscond with? Just asking? Just a dumb old country boy askin' a question. You know what I mean? Thank you, ma'am.

Why no

caution light?

I was wondering how or why somebody could tell us when they put in the four lane on 67 why they took the caution light down off of 67 and 160 and 158 at the Call of the Wild and why when they put up new stop signs they didn't put the one back up with the red flashing lights around it? I have seen three accidents there in the past week. Are they waiting for somebody to get killed --somebody with authority or somebody with money before they do something right about that intersection?

The people who don't come around this area all the time remembers there is I had no stop sign going on way and the other way they still stop. What has to be done before somebody gets killed out there?

Just thought I'd ask.

Wear Red

White & Blue

I'm calling regarding the "Wear Red, White and Blue" Speak Out. The only thing I can say is that person might need to go to the emergency room as quick as possible 'cause they forwarded those real badly on Fox News and Rush Limbaugh's. I've read every opinion the 9th District handed down in the month of September and there's not a word said about nobody being able to display the American flag.

Dangerous

intersection

I had called Speak Out the other day about the 158/160 and 67 crossover where they took off the caution light and took down the stop signs with the red flashing lights around them put up regular stop sign. Well, I just come through there just now and if I hadn't have been watching because I don't trust people to stop on 67, that guy never even slowed down at the stop sign. He wouldn't t-boned me at about 60 mph and then instead of calling you I'd have been one of those statistics.

Is somebody gonna do something about this before somebody really does gets seriously dead? Just asking.
