To the Editor:

For three consecutive years, we have been honored to organize the Sarah White Memorial Scholarship 5K. It was held on September 6, 2014 at the Three Rivers Campus. We wish to thank the many businesses and individuals who make our event possible each year.

Dr. Lance Yeoman has been our platinum sponsor each year. He goes above and beyond in his sponsorship, and this year, he and his staff actually joined us at the event. First Midwest Bank, Doug Libla, Southern Bank, Walmart, Focus Physical Therapy, Luecke Distributing, First Community Bank, and Poplar Bluff Rehab were additional sponsors for the past three years. Additionally, we appreciate the support of the Poplar Bluff Police Department and Captain Don Trout, Jeremy Grable with the Poplar Bluff Street Department, and numerous individuals who volunteered their time to assist runners on the 5K course.

We also thank Sterling Bank for sponsoring our children's area this year. Christy Thomas-Barker and her crew of bank volunteers worked hard to provide a fun area for children to play, and they organized 50 and 100 meter dashes. First Choice Insurance Group, PB Realty, Larry Hillis Dodge, and TRCC student organizations hosted fun activity booths for the children. Simply Swirled was a favorite among all age groups and Kim White Photography captured priceless pictures of the event and participants. Galen Stevens, of Clear 94 Radio, donated his voice, music, and equipment for a third year and Gene Russom of TAG Truck Center donated the use of a flatbed trailer for a makeshift stage.

Sarah White loved teaching and her memorial scholarship is allowing a Three Rivers student the opportunity to pursue the same dream. Sarah fought a long, hard battle against colon cancer, and we thank the Poplar Bluff community for honoring her spirit and legacy by participating in this annual event alongside her family and friends.
